I’m the doula behind Birth & Balance! As a doula, I am dedicated to supporting individuals and families as they undergo life transitions.
As someone who has always been drawn to babies and fascinated by birth, I found myself wondering: How do the systems and institutions available for birth and new parenthood shape our lived experiences, relationships and understanding of the world? The more I questioned, the more I realized I wanted to be a part of improving these experiences for people.
I came to doula work while taking classes for nursing school. I realized I wanted a more hands-on, holistic approach that supported people as individuals with unique physical and emotional needs and served the whole family. I saw that becoming a doula would provide a path for me to do so.
After training with BEST Doula as a birth and postpartum doula, I can say that birthwork is exactly where I want to be and I truly love what I do. Being a doula is not just what I do as a career, it’s a role I get to play in building a brighter, safer, and more just future for my community and the world. I am incredibly fortunate to work with families as they shift and grow!
Hi, I’m Jane.
As a type one diabetic, I also have a passion for supporting people with chronic illnesses through pregnancy and postpartum.
No matter who you are, how, or where you choose to birth, you deserve a compassionate and informed care team. It is an honor to accompany all birthing people through their unique birth experiences.
Outside of doula work, I can be found listening to my favorite podcasts, taking my dog on walks through the woods, hanging out with my wife and friends, doing some form of arts & crafts, watching bad (really good) reality TV, or rearranging my living room. I love to nest and arrange a space to create maximum comfort and coziness. And of course, this includes birthing spaces - whether at a hospital, birth center, or in your own home!
